What is Storage Area Network (SAN)?
A SAN is a network of storing devices that can be viewed by numerous machines. Hard drives in the SAN can be accessed by any computer linked to the network just like local devices that are physically present next to the computer. This makes it simple to exchange information between various computers as it enables individual hard disks to be used by multiple computers.
Large networks might need more capacity than a single server can supply, even though a single server can give a common hard drive to many devices. For instance, a big company might have several gigabytes of information that must be accessed by numerous computers on a local area network (LAN). Instead of adding more computers in this case, a Storage could be built up. SANs are an effective method to expand network storage because only hard disks must be added rather than entire computer systems.
