What is NTFS?

NTFS stands for New Technology File System.

NTFS is a file system first introduced by Microsoft with Windows NT. It is also supported in all subsequent versions.

NTFS has many advantages over FAT32 (File Allocation Table). One of them is that it includes features that will increase reliability. For example, it includes fault tolerance that automatically repairs hard drive errors without displaying error messages. It also keeps detailed transaction logs that track hard drive failures. This can help prevent hard drive failures and makes it possible to recover files if the hard drive fails.
