Mainnet is the term used to describe when a blockchain protocol is fully developed and deployed as a live network unlike Testnet. Mainnet has cryptocurrency transactions that are being broadcasted, verified, and recorded on a distributed ledger technology.

A mainnet is a blockchain that performs the functionality of transferring a digital currency from a sender to a recipient. It is also deemed as the final outcome of the project and fulfilment of the commitments made in white paper of respective Blockchain project.
