What is FTP?

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is the oldest, most widely used protocol for transferring files over the Internet. Simple FTP uses a client-server model, where a client requests data and then a server provides it.

FTP is used everywhere online, including site updates and bulk file transfers. Users can quickly and easily set up an FTP server on all major operating systems, including Windows, Linux, UNIX and Mac OS.
